BOWling for diabetes

TSEF partners with the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Foundation (TMH) each year to host Bowling for Diabetes, to raise awareness for juvenile diabetes.  This event also raises money to supports the TSEF Scholarship Fund and scholarships for the TMH Foundation Diabetes Camp.  2019 will mark the 12 year anniversary of Bowling for Diabetes.  Sponsor & register bowling teams using the Eventbrite link below

Sigma Soiree is the premier night event held during Alumni Sigma Week!  TSEF will highlight the impact of our community service activities in the Tallahassee area, as well as recognize community leaders and our community partners.

Oratorical contest

During Alumni Sigma Week, TSEF hosts the Dr. Alain L. Locke Oratorical Contest.  The contest provides local students an opportunity to develop skills in research, writing, and public speaking.  Top contest participants will be are awarded STEM related summer camp scholarships.  To request an 2019 Oratorical Contest Registration packet for a student please email us.

  TSEF ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP DRIVE

Our Annual Scholarship Drive provides educational scholarships to local students in Tallahassee.  In 2018 TSEF awarded scholarships to graduating high school seniors attending college and four Technology & Innovation summer camp scholarships to grade school students in Tallahassee.

SEALEY ELEMENTARy school

In the fall of 2016 TSEF partnered with the Beta Lambda Sigma (BLS) Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity to adopt Sealey Elementary School.  Under the direction of the fraternities national initiative to adopt 100 schools across America to promote literacy & provide educational opportunities for the students.  Since adopting Sealey Elementary, TSEF & BLS have volunteered in a number of projects to fulfill the mission.  These activities include the implementation of a 5th grade mentoring program, providing summer camp scholarships, volunteering at career day, volunteering at STEM Day, United Way Reading Program, and a Campus Beautification Project.  The response from the principal and teachers has been extremely positive and the impact on the young men has been encouraging. In addition volunteers report that it has proven to be a rewarding experience. 

SOUL SANTA

During the holiday season TSEF donates turkeys and hundreds of food items during the City of Tallahassee Soul Santa Community Outreach Event.  Soul Santa provides much needed resources to those experiencing economic hardship in the community during the holidays. 

Sigma Beta Club Mentoring

TSEF partners with the Beta Lambda Sigma Alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity to mentor young men in the Tallahassee community.  The focus of the club is to aid in the development of key life skills, cultural enrichment, and provide educational scholarships.
